Abstract

In the present work, we have synthesized the calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2) nanoparticles (NPs) with different molarity of calcium nitrate tetrahydrate. The Ca(OH)2 NPs were synthesized by a simple chemical route. The molarity of calcium nitrate tetrahydrate was varied in the range of 0.4, 1, and 1.6 M by keeping the molarity of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) constant. All the procedure was done at room temperature. The prepared three samples were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and UltravioletVisible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy techniques. From the XRD spectra results, it was seen that in comparison to Ca(OH)2 prepared at 0.4 M, the crystallite size of Ca(OH)2 prepared at 1.6 M decreased drastically.
